Now, add bubbles. That was the winning idea from "Carp Tank," a $500,000 competition that wrapped up in Michigan this week.

A Cleveland company trying to build a set of wind turbines on Lake Erie has been waiting since July for the state to certify its project. This month, the group filed another set of reports in the hopes of moving the process forward.

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has decided to include Western Lake Erie in a list of impaired waters, due to the harmful algae blooms that plague the region every year.  The agency’s move comes after years of calls from environmentalists and a federal lawsuit.

Key federal funding for the Great Lakes has survived again thanks to Congress.

This is the second time President Trump proposed a big cut to the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. And Congress restored it full: $300 million for the 2019 budget year.
